What is the Purple Card?

The Purple Card is in simplest terms a pre-loaded gift card with a rewards program built in. Available only to college students, the Purple Card allows you to purchase food at any of the participating local restaurants and eateries in the greater Williamstown metropolitan area. When you eat at a restaurant you gain rewards points at said establishment which earn you free food and privileges. Sign-up is easy and secure. How Does the Rewards Program Work?

Students use their cards at different restaurants and earn one rewards point there for every dollar spent. Rewards points don’t cross over between restaurants, but rather serve as an indication of how much you spend at different establishments. As students spend more they earn different free meals as well as gain membership levels. Each restaurant offers a “welcome member” benefit to be redeemed on the first visit. Additionally “Purple” and “Gold” member levels can be achieved by earning enough points at a restaurant. With these levels come different “privileges” such as free drinks or desserts with every meal. Finally, Purple Card members can earn free meals and coupons at the restaurants by earning the proper point values. Rewards points earned at a restaurant can be seen on the top of each receipt.

How Do I Manage My Card?

Checking balances is a snap online, and if you see that your balance is running low it’s easy to add more money to the card online too. Or, for a more personal touch you can call us up and recharge your card over the phone. Should tragedy transpire, and your card is lost it’s easy to report either on our website, or again by telephone and we’ll issue you a new one. And unlike the College meal plan, where unused meals are lost each semester, Purple Points roll over semester-to-semester, year-to-year.
